each story is unique.

Within each story is a story of giving life.

Adelin Louis

Adelin was born on April 5th 2004 and is the twin of Adeline. Their mother and aunt raised both Adelin and Adeline until the age of eight. Neither of the twins ever knew their father and no one knows of his current whereabouts or if he is even still alive. Their mother found out about Wings of Refuge through a friend who attends Pastor Wilson’s church and asked for the home to care for her children since she did not have the means or ability. Adelin and Adeline were two of the first kids that we came to live at the Home in May of 2011.

Adelin is our MVP for chores, especially when it gets him out of studying for a little while. Whether it be sweeping, mopping, dishes, or anything else, Adelin is there and doing it with a joyful attitude. He truly has a servant’s heart. Adelin also has a soft spot for his younger brothers and sisters at WOR, and will always put them ahead of himself. He loves to help feed little Melissa during lunch time.

Favorite Color: Blue

Favorite Activity: To help around the Home

We are still looking for a Level 1 Sponsor for Adelin.

Adeline Louis

Adeline was born on April 5th 2004 and is the twin of Adelin. Their mother and aunt raised both Adelin and Adeline until the age of eight. Adelin and Adeline were two of the first kids that we came to live at the Home in May of 2011.

Adeline loves life. She is always dancing and singing around the house, not caring who sees or hears her. We love that about Adeline. She also loves to braid hair and it doesn’t matter what kind of hair — doll hair, toy horse hair or even the hair of her sisters! Adeline is also doing very well in her classes and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

Favorite Color: White

Favorite Activity: To braid hair and dance

We are looking for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Sponsors for Adeline.

Angelina Terlon

Angelina was born on November 3rd, 2008 in Petion-Ville, Haiti. Angelina is a very spirited little girl (with a little trouble on the side).  She loves to make funny faces and tell tall tale stories.  She loves playing with her brothers and sisters. Angelina is very intelligent, and when pushed a little, excels in school. She is bright, spunky, and quite independent. We love having Angelina in our family simply because she is Angelina.  There is no one else like her and we wouldn’t change that for the world!

Favorite Color: Blue

Favorite Activity: To Color

Angelina is fully sponsored.

Christelle Valary Joseph

Christelle was born July 15th, 2009. She came to live at Wings of Refuge Children’s Home in September of 2013. Christelle is always on the go! From the moment she wakes up until the moment she closes her eyes she is all over the place. As one might expect, she has a ton of energy! She also loves to be heard and will make sure that you hear her if she is talking to you. Christelle enjoys to learn and is currently learning to read. Even when she was really little, she would go over to our bookshelf, grab a book, and pretend that she could read. Christelle is quite the comedian; we absolutely adore her and look forward to what God has in store for her.

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Activity: To Run and Play

We are looking for one Level 1 sponsor for Christelle.

Clifford Nazaire

Clifford was born August 27th, 2005. He has been a part of the Wings of Refuge family from the beginning. Clifford is quieter than most of the other children in the home. When you sit down and talk with him or even just pull him aside, you get to hear some of what he is observing and thinking. He is very bright and really loves school. Even when his brothers and sisters are playing, you will typically find Clifford studying. Clifford is such a blessing to us because he brings such a sense of peace to the very lively family dynamic. We could not picture our family without him and we are so excited to see what the future holds for Clifford.

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Activity: To study and to hang out with his older brothers.

Clifford is fully sponsored.

Darvensley Jean-Brice

Darvensley was born September 6th, 2011. No one knows of Darvensley’s father, and shortly after his birth, it became very apparent that Darvensley was being neglected by his mother. Darvensley was three months old when he joined the Wings of Refuge family.

Darvensley (or Dada, as we refer to his around the Home) is one of the happiest little guys you will ever meet and being the baby, he is nothing short of being constantly doted upon by his 33 brothers and sisters and the staff. Darvensley is very easy going and doesn’t mind getting knocked around a bit since he is the youngest. He is also very intelligent. He has been sitting in the preschool class five days a week since he was two years old, and in addition to learning Creole, he is also picking up some French and English! We believe God has a special plan for Darvensley and are honored to be a part of it.

Favorite Color: Yellow

Favorite Activity: To eat!

Darvensley is fully sponsored.

Djoulie Lima

Djoulie was born June 8th, 2008 and came to live at Wings of Refuge in September of 2013. When Djoulie smiles, you can’t help but smile back. It goes from ear to ear and is as genuine as they come. She is very bubbly and has this unique charm about her. Djoulie is doing well in her school and loves to learn. She prefers to be playing outside over sitting and watching a movie. She will watch the first five minutes of a movie and then excuse herself to go play. Djoulie is spunky and she knows it, even with that innocent smile. She loves Bible story time and is the first one to raise her hand and ask a question when the story is finished. We are thrilled to see what God has in store for Djoulie!

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Activity: To laugh and give hugs

We are looking for Levels 1 and 2 sponsors for Djoulie.

Emmanuel Francois

Emmanuel was born April 25th, 2008 and joined the Wings of Refuge family with his little sister, Melissa, in December of 2013. While Emmanuel is one of our youngest (and littlest) he certainly has an appetite! He is a great listener and always obeys when he is asked to do something. You never have to tell Emmanuel to do anything twice. He is enjoying going to school and is learning so much already. While he may be a little quieter than many of the other kids, he will be sure to let you know his opinion. He listens, observes, and takes in, but when something is not going the way that it should, he is sure to speak up. Emmanuel’s two favorite things are to do are play soccer and watch Tom and Jerry. This little boy just melts our hearts and he will melt yours too!

Favorite Color: Blue

Favorite Activity: Reading Bible stories

We are looking for a Level 2 sponsor for Emmanuel.

Erinel Jeaugile

Erinel and his older brother, Migelite have been a part of the Wings of Refuge family since the Home opened in May of 2011. Erinel was born January 2nd, 2006 in Port de Paix, which is about 6 hours away from Port-Au-Prince. Erinel is the youngest in his family of 7 children. His father left them when his mother was pregnant with him and went to the Dominican Republic; no one has seen or heard from him since. For the past 5 years his mother had been doing her best to take care of all her children, but it was just too much. She was unable to provide and saw the Children’s Home as an opportunity for the boys.

Erinel has one of the most contagious smiles. Even when he was little, everyone who visited would fall in love with his smile, his easy-going attitude, and his openness. He loves to have fun and it shows. Whether he is peaking out from around a corner or poking you to get your attention, he is always looking for someone to play with and to love. Erinel loves music and dancing around the house. He may not be the best dancer, but he sure is entertaining.  Erinel is such a blessing to the Wings of Refuge family and we look forward to all that God has in store.

Favorite Color: Blue

Favorite Activity: To run and play outside

We are looking for Levels 1, 2, and 3 sponsors for Erinel.

Fadelin Estile

Fadelin was born on November 20th, 2006. He did not get to know his parents and was raised by his Grandmother until she passed when he was six years old. His uncle, Laurore Evra, received full custody of Fadelin, but could not afford to care for him so he asked Wings of Refuge to raise him.

Fadelin joined our family in August 2011. We adore this little guy and are so thankful that God placed him in the Wings of Refuge family. He had a little trouble in school at the beginning but is now advancing and thriving; he is very bright! Fadelin loves to cause mischief, as all little boys do, and with 33 siblings, there is always someone available to joke around with. We know that God has a special plan for Fadelin and we can’t wait to watch it unfold.

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Activity: Figuring things out; to run around and play

Fadelin is fully sponsored.

Fegens Joseph

Fegens was born August 29th, 2008 and joined the Wings of Refuge family in September of 2013. Though one of the littlest in the home, size is no reason to not be in on the action to Fegens. He thinks he can take on playing with his older brothers. He gets knocked around from time to time but always manages to get right back up. Whether its basketball in the courtyard or a game of soccer in the field or choosing a movie, Fegens is definitely a fighter! Fegens is a fun-loving little boy with more energy than he knows what to do with, sometimes. The only time he rests is when Tom and Jerry is on or when he is sleeping. Fegens is a gift to the Wings of Refuge family, and we believe that God has a unique plan for his life.

Favorite Color: White

Favorite Activity: To play outside or watch Tom & Jerry

We are looking for one Level 1 sponsor for Fegens.

Guirlene Sylla

Guirlene was born on July 27th, 2004 and was raised by both of her parents. They lived in a small town where there used to be a lots of violence and their house was robbed several times. When the earthquake hit in 2010, it only made the family’s situation worse. Then the unexpected happened; Guirlene’s father fell ill and passed away in March 2011. Mrs. Sylla was no longer able to meet the physical and educational needs of her two beautiful girls, Jaunise and Guirlene, and that is when she found out about Wings of Refuge Children’s Home.

Guirlene loves to know what is behind something. She cares about the details and is interested in what is below the surface. She is full of questions and always searching for answers. This is one of the reasons that she excels in her studies and loves school. Guirlene loves to learn. She is observant and cares deeply. From the beginning of her life at the Children’s Home, Guirlene could be found caring for her younger brothers and sisters. She is such a joy to have as part of the Wings of Refuge family. We know God has a larger than life plan for this sweet girl!

Favorite Color: Blue

Favorite Activity: School and learning how to cook (she is a huge help in the kitchen!).

We are looking for Levels 1, 2, and 3 sponsors for Guirlene.

Islande Jules

Islande is a very unique young lady. Islande has a very warm personality with a little dash of sass. She is not an open book until you get to know her. She needs to know that she can trust you, and that can take a little bit of time. Islande is a hard worker and likes to feel like she is contributing. If you are looking for her, she can usually be found in the kitchen helping to prepare the meal. She loves to cook and has been receiving lessons from Nana, the Home’s Cook, on the weekends. She takes wonderful care of her younger brothers and sisters. Islande does well in school; she already knows French and enjoys learning English when she has the time. Lastly, Islande loves to lead her family in prayer. She loves God and when she prays it is evident that she knows Him and expects Him to listen and respond. We are big fans of Islande.

Favorite Color: Pink

Favorite Activity: To cook

We are looking for Levels 1, 2, and 3 sponsors for Islande.

Ismael Darisma

Ismael’s father was killed right before the earthquake struck Haiti. With no job, his mother would go to people’s homes to do laundry for very little pay – about $2 for a whole day’s work. Knowing that she could not meet the basic needs of her son and that she was in a very bad situation, she sent him to live at Wings of Refuge Children’s Home.

What a blessing Ismael is to the Wings of Refuge family! He is respectful and kind to everyone that he meets, as well as his caretakers and siblings. Ismael is very bright and works very hard. He always knows his lessons and loves to participate in class. His teacher has told the Staff many times that she loves having him in her class. When Ismael isn’t studying, he enjoys playing soccer with the other kids outside or watching a movie on the weekends. We are so thankful for Ismael and are looking forward to seeing where the Lord leads him in the future.

We are looking for one Level 2 sponsor for Ismael.

Jaunise is a beautiful girl both inside and out. She is the oldest child at Wings of Refuge Children’s Home and you can tell just by meeting her that her future is going to be very bright. She loves helping in the kitchen and is learning so much under the Home’s full time chef, Nana. Jaunise is also such a great older sister and role model for all of the children at the Home. She is constantly helping them with anything from getting dressed to eating to studying. Jaunise is also extremely bright. She is fluent in Creole and French and she has such a passion for picking up English now. She loves all of her classes and does well on all of her exams. We are so proud of her and have loved watching her grow up right before our eyes.

We are looking for Level 1 sponsor for Jaunise.

Jean Widmy Delva

Jean Widmy, known as Widmy around the Home, was born January 22nd, 2003 and raised by both of his parents in the Jacmel area. With a family of ten children and in desperate need of work, his father uprooted the family after losing their home in the earthquake. The family moved to Canaan, a dangerous area in Port-au-Prince.  Shortly after, Mr. Delva did find a job, but it was not nearly enough to support his family. To make matters worse, after the earthquake, his wife became mentally unable to continue to care for their children. It was after this that Mr. Delva sought out Pastor Wilson to take in Jean Widmy and his older brother Jovanesse.

Jean Widmy loves to play soccer and help around the house. He is much quieter than most of the other boys, but when something goes wrong or justice is not given to a situation, Widmy will be one of first to communicate what went wrong and where it went wrong. Widmy also is one of those boys who loves to hang out with his brothers in the house, but is also perfectly content being alone. He enjoys doing things with his hands and building. He is a wonderful little guy with a huge heart. We know that the Lord has a great plan for him and cannot wait to see more of it unfold.

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Activity: To play soccer and hang out with my older brothers.

We are looking for Levels 1, 2, and 3 sponsors for Jean Widmy.

Jean Widson Jule

Jean Widson’s father walked out on their family right after he was born on November 20th, 2007. With two children to provide for, Jean Widson’s mother tried looking for work by going to people’s houses and doing laundy, but it wasn’t enough. She was unable to provide enough food for her family and knew that she needed to do something. That was when she found out about Wings of Refuge, and Jean Widson joined the family in September of 2013.

Jean Widson enjoys playing; his favorite activity is playing with trucks. Whether coloring, playing soccer, dancing, or anything else – he is ready for whatever comes his way. He loves to joke and to laugh. Jean Widson is almost fearless!  The world is at the finger tips of this boy and he is going to have some incredible opportunities when he gets older. Jovanesse Delva

Jovanesse was born May 2nd, 2001 and raised by both of his parents in the Jacmel area. With a family of ten children and in desperate need of work, his father uprooted the family after losing their home in the earthquake. The family moved to Canaan, a dangerous area in Port-au-Prince. To make matters worse, after the earthquake, his wife became mentally unable to continue to care for their children. It was after this that Mr. Delva sought out Pastor Wilson to take in Jovanesse and his older brother Jean Widmy. The boys joined the Wings of Refuge Family in May of 2011.

At the Home, Jovanesse is a big brother to not only to Jean Widmy, but to all of the children. Jovanesse is a leader. Even from a young age, he could influence the room without even trying. Jovanesse is also a natural athlete and loves being outside. He is competitive and able to gather a group of people around any activity. He loves going to school, and enjoys working with his hands. We know God has something special for Jovanesse and are excited to watch it unfold.

Keslourna Mondilus

Born February 8th, 2005, Keslourna’s father passed away when she was just two years old. Her mother then got very sick and could no longer care for her daughter, so she released full custody to her sister (Keslourna’s aunt) who was living in a tent city after the earthquake. Both the aunt and Keslourna’s mother knew that the Children’s Home would be able to care better for Keslourna. Keslourna’s mother passed away shortly after in  August 2013.

Keslourna has a smile that can light up a room. She can be a little on the quieter side, but when she sees something going wrong, she has no problem speaking up. Whether going for a walk, playing soccer with the boys, or helping Angelina with her hair, Keslourna stays busy.

Favorite Activity: To read and to hang out with her sisters.

Ketina Leapold

Ketina was born June 2nd, 2003. She came to the Wings of Refuge Children’s Home from the same tent city as Keslourna. The Home was quite a change for Ketina and took her some time to adjust. Living in a tent city in Haiti teaches a child to always be on the look-out and how they have to fight to survive, which can make an environment like a Home quite a transition. Ketina needed to learn to trust, to let down her guard, and that she didn’t have to earn the love of the Home. It was hers to have.

Today, Ketina is one of the hardest workers around the Home. She often has to be told to stop working and helping and to go play. She is always looking out for her other siblings (and the caretakers), insisting to know what they need. She really loves people. She serves willingly in every situation. She loves to learn and is doing very well in school. Though she sometimes has a hard exterior, Ketina is very loving. We know God has something special for Ketina and are excited to watch it unfold.

Favorite Color: Pink

Favorite Activity: To help around the home

Louiza Clermont

Louiza was born December 21, 2010. She joined the Wings of Refuge Family in September of 2013. When she first came to live at the Home, she refused to eat and spent most of her time crying. Now, she is a completely different little girl. She goes by the name Pouchina here because that is the nickname her father gave her ever since she was very little.

Pouchina runs everywhere and loves to play. She will join in any game (even if it means getting a little dirty). She also is completely content watching people from a safe distance or playing by herself. Pouchina is doing well in school and loves to learn. Pouchina loves to eat (a huge difference from when she first joined the family); she never leaves any food in her plate and is happy to help her brothers and sisters finish their helpings when needed. He really knows how to move! Manasse has an incredible personality and all of his brothers and sisters love him to pieces. He is fun-loving and intense. We know God has something unique for Manasse and are excited to watch it unfold.

If someone is upset she goes right up to them and asks what’s wrong. She is compassionate and caring.

While Melissa can play games like the rest of the kids, she loves to hang out with the adults and enjoys conversation. She loves to listen (and interject her opinions) about anything from life in Haiti to cooking in the kitchen. Melissa loves to eat, though it may take her a little longer to get through her meal. She loves to be around people and is perfectly content watching people do something as long as it means she is not alone. She is also very affectionate. If you pick her up and hold her, she will love you forever!

For the past 5 years their mother had been doing her best to take care of all her children, but it was just too much. She was unable to provide and saw the Children’s Home as an opportunity for the boys.

Like his brother, Erinel, Migelite rarely does not have a smile on his face. While he is quieter than most of the other boys, he gets right into the middle of whatever is going on. He has a contagious laugh and loves to have fun. Migelite is very creative and quite the little artist. When given any art project, he never rushes. He takes his time adding detail to just about anything that he draws. Migelite is unique and we love that about him. We know that God has something special in store for him!

Favorite Color: White

Favorite Activity: To draw

We are looking for one Level 2 sponsor for Migelite.

Motha Clervin

Motha was born July 29th, 2003 and joined the Wings of Refuge family in July of 2012. Motha doesn’t go out of his way to be noticed. He can often be found on the outside, observing and watching what is going on. He certainly has no problem speaking up and has quite a strong will. He will defend himself or whoever he feels like has been wronged until it is made right. Motha is very intelligent for his age and is doing very well in school. Sometimes he needs to be given a little extra nudge to study, but that’s because he would rather be playing soccer and basketball, which is perfectly understandable! He also loves trucks and blowing up balloons. He is a little boy that is full of conviction and strength. There is a fight in Motha, something that we believe God will use to bring hope to Haiti.

Wilson Dorril

Born April 8th, 2004, Wilson’s mother passed away when he was not even a year old. He was raised by his father and was able to attend a school in his community. With no job or source of income, Wilson’s father did not have enough to even put food on the table, let alone adequately care of his son. It was at this time that he found out about Wings of Refuge and knew that it was the best option for a future for Wilson.

Wilson is not outspoken or loud. He certainly has things to say and will share them when he feel like its needed. Wilson loves to dance. In a way, it might be a little of how he expresses himself. As soon as he hears music, he starts moving, and boy, does he have rhythm! Wilson is not one who likes to study, but once encouraged, he does very well. He works hard and will help when asked. He loves to play basketball and soccer and be with his brothers. He is going to go on to do great things one day!
