A home is more than shelter. A home is family. And, family doesn’t happen without love.
Wings of Refuge Children’s Home opened its doors on May 21, 2011 to 7 children. The Home’s purpose was to provide a safe place where children would be provided for, raised in love, given life, and equipped to give the hope of Jesus Christ to Haiti and the world. What began in a rented space with 7 children and 4 staff members has grown into a beautiful home of refuge for 34 children and 15 staff members.
Pastor Roger Wilson and Gladys Charles, the founders of the Home, continue to lead the way in Haiti alongside an all-Haitian staff. The Wings of Refuge Children’s Home Staff are some of our heroes. Whether its laundry, cooking, cleaning, brushing teeth, teaching, or keeping the home secure, the Staff does everything excellently. They love the children beautifully and give life well.
The children live in a beautiful home in Pernier, Haiti. It was built on the donations of many generous and faith-filled givers and the project was lead by Pastor Wilson. The home has been constructed to provide shelter for 50 children and is still being completed.
As you can see, family pictures are not always the easiest. With 34 children, getting everyone to look at the camera much less smile on cue is a feat that we have yet to accomplish.
